About Bald Head Island

Bald
Head Island, the southern most cape island in North Carolina, is truly an escape from ordinary life.  Accessible only by the island ferry or private boat, the island allows no cars within its 12,000 acre enclave.  Residents and vacationers alike navigate the island by golf cart, bicycle or on foot.

The island is also home of the Bald Head lighthouse - also known as "Old Baldy", built in 1818.  Visitors can tour the lighthouse, which features spectacular views from atop.

The center piece of the island is the Bald Head Island Club, with it's championship 18 hold golf, pool, tennis courts and fitness center provide other activities than the sunset strolls on the unspoiled beaches. Also the newly opened Shoals Club over looking Cape Fear provides oceanfront dining at it's finest.

The architecture of the island homes and shops are re-created in the Nantucket style of days gone by.  While primarily a vacation destination, there are a few folks that call this unique island home.  Come see for yourself.
